What are the advantages of a DirectBuy SplitPay Lease vs. a typical loan?

We believe DirectBuy SplitPays flexible monthly payments are more convenient and flexible than conventional loan financing!

 

Loan: You can borrow money to buy something and you pay it back every month with interest.

 

DirectBuy SplitPay Lease: Anyone who has a SSN and is over 18 years of age with a valid US address can apply. (Some restrictions apply)

 

Each month you may choose one of three options:

  • Make the monthly payment
  • Purchase the products
  • Return the products at any time to DirectBuy SplitPay; normal wear-and-tear is accepted with no further obligation other than for amounts past due.

Does DirectBuy SplitPay charge an interest rate (Annual Percentage Rate)?

No, DirectBuy SplitPay offers a lease to own payment option. Customers are entering into an agreement to lease the product, and will own the product at the end of the lease. We also have an Early Purchase Option if customers want to own the product sooner. The Lease Agreement is not a credit transaction. The monthly Lease payment is all you pay each month, and does not include any hidden interest rate or APR.

 

DirectBuy SplitPay considers the following two factors when calculating the monthly Lease payment:

  • The cash price of the product
  • The state/city sales tax rate

 

The Lease Agreement outlines the maximum number of times the Lease can be renewed before the customer automatically obtains ownership. Please note that the Shipping charges for the items will be added to the Initial Payment at the time of the purchase.

What is a Consumer Lease Purchase Agreement?

A Consumer Lease Purchase Agreement permits you to make periodic payments for the use of the products you have selected while you have possession of those products. You have no long term obligation to continue leasing, and can return the product to DirectBuy SplitPay at any time with no further obligation other than for amounts past due.

 

In addition, you have several options to acquire ownership of the product you are leasing by taking advantage of our early payment options (for details on this option, see the question below – “What are the Early Purchase options”). A DirectBuy SplitPay Lease offers flexibility that may make it more attractive than financing through a loan. Every month you can choose to continue to lease for another month, purchase the product at a discounted rate, or return it.

What are the terms of a DirectBuy SplitPay lease?

A Lease with DirectBuy SplitPay requires an initial payment at the time of the order followed by a pre-determined number of payments with options of 6, 9 and 12 monthly payments dependent on your credit rating. You can buy the products outright at any time, and every payment goes toward reducing the buyout price.

Do I have a limit on how much I can lease with DirectBuy SplitPay?

Currently the lease option is only available for purchases between $50 and $5000. Once you have made a decision on what items you want to buy and are approved for a lease, DirectBuy SplitPay extends you a purchase limit that covers the items you currently have in the shopping cart (plus shipping and tax)

Can I lease more than one product?

Yes, you may lease any number of products up to your approved spending limit.

Which provinces is DirectBuy SplitPay available in?

DirectBuy SplitPay is working quickly to expand, but is currently only available in some areas of Canada. Please click 'add to cart' on any product page and enter in your postcode when prompted to see if DirectBuy SplitPay is available in your area.

 

Also note, orders cannot be shipped to APO, FPO, DPO or P.O. Box addresses.

Do I pay sales tax?

Yes. DirectBuy SplitPay charges and collects sales tax. Sales tax is added to all Lease payments and buyouts.

Applying for a Lease

What if my bank or credit union isn't listed?

We apologize that your bank or credit union is not listed on our site as an option. To complete the pre-approval process, we will need some additional documentation from you - proof of income, such as a recent pay statement, and a copy of your recent bank statement. You can email this information to support@leaseco.io for review.

Who can get a DirectBuy SplitPay Lease?

Anyone over 18 years old may apply. (Please refer to all the eligibility requirements listed above). On any product page, click 'add to cart' and enter your residential zip code to see whether DirectBuy SplitPay is available in your area.

What is needed to apply for a DirectBuy SplitPay lease?

  1. A valid email address
  2. A valid Canada address
  3. A valid Social Insurance Number
  4. A valid credit or debit card to make monthly payments with (no prepaid or gift cards)
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older
  6. Proof of income of at least $1,000 a month

Are there any additional restrictions when you Lease products with DirectBuy SplitPay?

Apart from the qualification restrictions listed here, a Lease is currently only available when you are buying items totaling between $50 & $5,000 (excluding shipping and taxes)

Do I need to have good credit?

No. Good credit is not necessary but not everyone with less than perfect credit is approved. Our goal is to help consumers with less than perfect credit purchase items they want through our Lease.

Will my credit be impacted?

Applying will not impact your credit. If you do not pay your Lease payment(s) or do not return your Leased item(s), this may be reported negatively on your credit.

Do you pull my credit score?

To verify your identity, we use the information you provide during the check-out and obtain a credit report from bureaus. But your credit score will not be impacted by our information verification methods.

Do I need credit to apply for a DirectBuy SplitPay Lease?

You can apply if you have no credit, bad credit or a bankruptcy. However, an inquiry will be made of your credit history or creditworthiness. We may also check past transaction history and report information about your Lease to credit reporting agencies. However, no established credit history is necessary.

Do you accept a co-applicant?

Unfortunately, we do not accept co-applicants at this time.

Purchasing with your Approved Funds

What is my available spending limit and does it expire?

This is the amount you are able to spend when you buy with DirectBuy SplitPay. This amount may change from time to time based on your current finances.

Is my available spending limit guaranteed?

No. In some cases, you may not be able to buy with DirectBuy SplitPay. Usually, this is because of suspected fraud on your account, recent missed payments, or excessive leasing behavior.

What is my spending limit for leases?

Your spending limit is the total Sale Price of the goods you can lease.

How do I choose the Lease option when purchasing?

If your shopping cart totals between $50 and $5000 in qualified products, you may get a DirectBuy SplitPay in a few simple clicks.

  • Select the items you want to purchase and proceed to Checkout
  • During the checkout process, select the DirectBuy SplitPay button on the Payment page
  • Verify your identity and provide payment information
  • Receive an instant decision
  • Review and Agree to your Lease Agreement and submit your order  

You will be notified with an estimated delivery date within 1-2 business days! Please note it may take longer for certain products.

DirectBuy SplitPay will send you a welcome email that gives you a link that you can use to access your DirectBuy SplitPay account.

How does a DirectBuy SplitPay transaction work?

We lease you goods under a Consumer Lease Purchase Agreement. (We generally call this agreement a “Lease” or “Lease Agreement” on our Website, including the FAQs.) Along with the initial payment at the time of the purchase, you make a pre-determined number of payments with options of 6, 9 and 12 monthly payments dependent on your credit rating. At the end of your monthly payments period, you own the item(s), with no further fees.

Leasing provides you with the ultimate flexibility in that you can exercise an Early Purchase Option (please refer to the details about this option below) to acquire early ownership of the items or simply return the items in good condition at any time during your Lease term without any future payment obligation.

Please note, you must be current in your payments to take advantage of any of the options mentioned above. We reserve absolute discretion to cancel your Lease at any time. Please refer to your Lease Agreement for details.

Lease Payments

How is my remaining lease balance calculated?

This is the total of your remaining lease balances as of today. You can find the payment schedule of your outstanding lease by going to the Leases tab in your DirectBuy SplitPay account.

When are my lease payments due?

Your payments will be monthly. The first payment will be 20 days after your Lease is approved. Following this first payment, all payments will be due on the same day of each month for the term of the Lease Agreement.

Will DirectBuy SplitPay remind me of my auto-payment withdrawal?

Every month we’ll send you an email regarding the payment date and the amount of your next monthly Lease payment.

How do I make my monthly payments for the Lease?

There will be a down payment requirement that is due at checkout, and subsequent monthly Lease payments are auto-withdrawn monthly from the credit card or debit card used at checkout. You can also access your account information on our site by clicking on “Your Account” section. Please contact customer service at 1-888-568-7735 if you have any further questions regarding your account or Lease payments.

Why is it important to make my payments on time?

DirectBuy SplitPay will take your payment history into consideration for any future leases you may wish to obtain. Failure to make payment or repeatedly making payments after the due date may result in your denial of future leases.

We may also report your payment history to the credit data providers we use.

Early Purchase

What are your Early Purchase options?

To take advantage of the early payout option, simply refer to the table in your Lease and look up the amount referenced to each monthly payment date. It shows you the amount that you need to pay to own the items immediately. The sooner you pay off the Lease, the more money you save.

Cancellations / Ending your Lease

How do I cancel my order?

Cancellations are subject to the DirectBuy Leasing cancellation policy. Please contact DirectBuy Leasing if you would like to cancel a transaction before receiving the item(s). If your lease is still in the "processing" state when DirectBuy Leasing agrees to cancel your order, the lease will automatically be removed from your LeaseCo account. If your order has already been shipped, please contact LeaseCo Customer Service at 1-888-568-7735 and we will work with you to process the order as a return.

Can I return my items and end my lease?

If you would like to return your products, please contact our customer service team at 1-888-568-7735 to coordinate with LeaseCo. Your Lease Agreement will be satisfied once we receive the products, verify the condition of the item(s), and your account is in good standing.

Are your items new or used?

All of our items are brand new, shipped directly to you from the manufacturer.

What if a product I want isn’t available?

If an item is currently out of stock on our website, feel free to reach out to our customer service team for an estimated availability date.

Delivery

When can I expect delivery?

Most of our items are delivered within 1-2 weeks. Please note that large parcel items requiring special transportation / care tend to take longer. You should receive an email within 1-3 business days providing you with updated shipping status from the manufacturer.

How should I inspect my merchandise during delivery?

We work hard to ensure every order arrives safe and sound. However, it is important to fully inspect your merchandise at the time of delivery for damage, defect, correct product and piece counts. Do not sign the Bill of Lading/Delivery document until you have fully inspected your merchandise. We recommend the following steps to inspect your merchandise for damage prior to accepting the items:

 

  • Ensure your purchase order matches the brand, model number and product that was delivered.
  • Inspect the exterior package for any signs of damage.
  • Remove all packaging and inspect your merchandise for damages.
  • Refuse delivery of any items where there is visible damage or defect, or if the product appears to be incorrect. Refuse only the damaged, defective or incorrect pieces of the order.
  • If your item is damaged, defective or missing parts, please notate “refused” on the Bill of Lading/Delivery document.
  • If you discover damage or defect after accepting delivery, please repackage the merchandise in its original packaging (when applicable) and contact us at 1-888-698-2337.

 

Scheduled deliveries (large appliances & electronics)

Please refuse delivery of your electronic or appliance purchase if you believe you received the wrong model/product or your item(s) arrived damaged. In these instances, please contact us at 1-888-698-2337 and we will work with you per the manufacturer’s warranty in lieu of our damaged item policy. This is the most advantageous and appropriate method to return/replace these items. Please refer to the above for detailed instructions on how to inspect your merchandise prior to accepting delivery.

How do I return damaged or defective merchandise?

You may return a damaged or defective item for a full refund within 21 days of delivery in most cases. For purchases of appliances, and / or electronics, we require notice within 48 hours from delivery.

 

Please contact us at 1-888-698-2337 or dbleasing@directbuy.com to notify us you need to return/replace your item so that we can help you arrange pick up and/or return delivery of your merchandise. We will typically ask for photos of the damaged item / shipping box to pass on to the manufacturer. In addition, if your merchandise was missing necessary parts or equipment, we will work with you to find a suitable replacement or send you replacement parts as soon as possible. You are not responsible for any costs associated with replacing damaged or defective merchandise.

Will I get a refund for damaged or defective merchandise?

We will issue you a full refund within 24-48 hours of receiving your return. Depending on the method in which you made your initial purchase, a credit will be issued to the credit card or bank account on the order.

How will my items be shipped?

How will I receive my large parcel item(s)?

We work hard to ensure your order arrives safe and sound. For all items too large or fragile to be delivered via UPS/FedEx, we have partnered with carriers that specialize in transporting and delivering large parcel items.

 

  1. 1. We will process your order within 1-2 business days and notify the manufacturer to ship your item(s).
  2. 2. When your item(s) get picked up from the warehouse, we’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know your order is on its way.
  3. 3. Your order will be shipped to a local delivery terminal, where a large parcel carrier will transport your items to local delivery professionals.
  4. 4. A local delivery agent will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment window – be ready to welcome your new item(s) home!

How will my items be shipped?

How will I receive my large parcel item(s)?

We work hard to ensure your order arrives safe and sound. For all items too large or fragile to be delivered via UPS/FedEx, we have partnered with carriers that specialize in transporting and delivering large parcel items.

 

  1. 1. We will process your order within 1-2 business days and notify the manufacturer to ship your item(s).
  2. 2. When your item(s) get picked up from the warehouse, we’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know your order is on its way.
  3. 3. Your order will be shipped to a local delivery terminal, where a large parcel carrier will transport your items to local delivery professionals.
  4. 4. A local delivery agent will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment window – be ready to welcome your new item(s) home!
